The third of the Lords of Sin

Lord of Gluttony

Saithith the Vampire, Lord of Gluttony, is a corpulent man standing just over six feet tall and weighing nearly three hundred pounds. His skin is pale as old parchment, and he wears a small, carefully waxed black beard and mustache. Long black hair, thinning and receding with age, hangs about his shoulders. He dresses in the fashions of a wealthy nobleman, though the styles he favors have been outdated for centuries. Despite his immense girth, Saithith possesses the unnatural speed and grace common to the vampire race. He can move with startling quickness, crossing a room in the blink of an eye or striking before an opponent realizes he has moved at all.

Before his transformation, Saithith was a pirate lord who terrorized the shipping lanes of the Lonely Sea during the reign of King Dakor V of Daven. From the city of Inharbor in the Selfhaven Archipelago, he preyed upon merchants, fishermen, and travelers alike. Yet greed alone did not define him. Saithith's true vice was excess. He possessed an appetite that could never be satisfied, whether for wealth, food, drink, comfort, or pleasure.

Whenever one of his ships captured a prize, the celebrations that followed became the stuff of dark legend. Feasts lasted for days. Wine flowed through the halls in rivers. Treasure was piled high simply so he could wallow among it. Nothing was ever enough. Saithith consumed everything before him with the desperate hunger of a man trying to fill a void that could never be filled. Even his own crew often found his indulgences repulsive, and hardened pirates who feared neither storm nor battle sometimes left his banquets sickened by the spectacle.

It was this boundless appetite that drew the attention of the Dweller. When the vampire Kibor was sent to seek a candidate worthy of becoming the Lord of Gluttony, Saithith's name quickly rose above all others. Few mortals had ever surrendered themselves so completely to the pursuit of excess.

As one of the Seven Lords of Sin, Saithith cultivated an outward appearance of civility. He speaks softly, almost in a whisper, and is often courteous even to his enemies. Yet beneath his calm demeanor lurks a ravenous predator. In dim light his eyes glow a deep crimson, and among vampires he is particularly vulnerable to the lure of blood. While most vampires feed as necessity or caution dictates, Saithith gorges himself whenever the opportunity presents itself. His hunger is never truly satisfied. Blood, like everything else in his existence, is merely another appetite to be indulged beyond reason.

Unlike several of the other Lords, Saithith showed little interest in governing. His rule over Daven was largely one of neglect. Day-to-day administration was left to orc war bosses, undead servants, and lesser officials who acted in his name. The Lord of Gluttony rarely concerned himself with matters of law, commerce, or statecraft. Instead, he remained secluded within the decaying royal fortress of Elder Daven, pursuing his endless cycle of indulgence and excess.

Yet it would be a mistake to regard Saithith as harmless or foolish. Beneath his laziness lay a deep instinct for self-preservation. Though he neglected his kingdom, he watched the ambitions of the other Lords closely and tolerated no threat to his authority. Over the centuries he quietly assembled a formidable army of undead creatures, hidden throughout Daven and known only to a handful of trusted servants. This force existed for one purpose: to ensure that should another Lord of Sin seek to seize his lands or diminish his power, they would discover that the Lord of Gluttony had been preparing for that possibility all along.

For Saithith embodies the truest nature of gluttony. He does not merely desire more. He desires everything. Every pleasure must be tasted. Every indulgence must be pursued. Every possession must be claimed. No feast is large enough, no treasure vast enough, and no quantity of blood sufficient to satisfy him. Like a bottomless pit, he consumes endlessly, yet remains forever hungry.

Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day, or 4/Day in Lair). If the Lord of Gluttony fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Misty Escape. If the Lord of Gluttony drops to 0 Hit Points outside his resting place, he uses Shape-Shift to become mist (no action required). If he can't use Shape-Shift, he is destroyed. While he has 0 Hit Points in mist form, he can't return to his vampire form, and he must reach his resting place within 2 hours or be destroyed. Once in his resting place, he returns to his vampire form and has the Paralyzed condition until he regains any Hit Points, and he regains 1 Hit Point after spending 1 hour there.

Spider Climb. The Lord of Gluttony can climb difficult surfaces, including along ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Vampire Weakness. The Lord of Gluttony has these weaknesses:

Forbiddance. The Lord of Gluttony can't enter a residence without an invitation from an occupant. He can enter any residence in Elder Daven City, however.
Running Water. The Lord of Gluttony takes 20 Acid damage if he ends his turn in running water.
Oakheart. Unlike other vampires, a weapon that deals piercing damage will not hold him immobile in his resting place. Only Oakheart, a famous intricate wooden stake created by Daven's Church of Heshtail, affects him. If Oakheart is driven into Saithith's heart while he is incapacitated in his resting place, he is forever destroyed.
Sunlight. The Lord of Gluttony takes 20 Radiant damage if he starts his turn in sunlight. While in sunlight, he has Disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.

Actions

Multiattack (Vampire Form Only). The Lord of Gluttony makes two Grave Strike attacks and uses Bite.

Grave Strike (Vampire Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8+4) bludgeoning damage plus 9 (2d6+2) Necrotic damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it has the Grappled condition (escape DC 14) from one of two hands.

Bite (Parrot or Vampire Form Only). Constitution Saving Throw: DC 18, one creature within 5 feet that is willing or that has the Grappled, Incapacitated, or Restrained condition. Failure: 6 (1d4 + 4) Piercing damage plus 13 (3d8) Necrotic damage. The target's Hit Point maximum decreases by an amount equal to the Necrotic damage taken, and the Lord of GLuttony regains Hit Points equal to that amount. A Humanoid reduced to 0 Hit Points by this damage and then buried rises the following sunset as a Vampire Spawn under the Lord of GLuttony's control.

Bonus Actions

Charm (Recharge 5–6). Trigger: The Lord of Gluttony casts Charm Person, requiring no spell components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 18), and the duration is 24 hours. The Charmed target is a willing recipient of the Lord of Gluttony's Bite, the damage of which doesn't end the spell. When the spell ends, the target is unaware it was Charmed by the Lord of GLuttony.

Shape Shift. If the Lord of Gluttony isn't in sunlight or running water, he shape-shifts into a parrot (Speed 5 ft., Fly Speed 30 ft.) or a Medium cloud of mist (Speed 5 ft., Fly Speed 20 ft. [hover]), or he returns to his vampire form. Anything he is wearing transforms with him. While in parrot form, the Lord of Gluttony can speak (like a parrot). His game statistics, other than his size and Speed, are unchanged. While in mist form, the Lord of Gluttony can't take any actions, speak, or manipulate objects. He is weightless and can enter an enemy's space and stop there. If air can pass through a space, the mist can do so, but it can't pass through liquid. It has Resistance to all damage, except the damage it takes from sunlight.

Legendary Actions

Legendary Action Uses: 3 (4 in Lair). Immediately after another creature's turn, the Lord of Gluttony can expend a use to take one of the following actions. He regains all expended uses at the start of each of his turns.

Beguile. The Lord of Gluttony casts Command, requiring no spell components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 18). The Lord of Gluttony can't take this action again until the start of his next turn.

Deathless Strike. The Lord of Gluttony moves up to his speed, and he makes one Grave Strike attack.

Curse of Gluttony. A random creature within 30 feet of Saithith who is not an ally of Saithith's is suddenly afflicted with extreme hunger. The creature must succeed at a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion. This particular lair effect cannot cause a creature to progress beyond level 4 exhaustion. A level of exhaustion can be removed if the creature consumes the equivalent of one day's worth of rations.

Creatures of the Night. A large group of common mice and rats climbs out from the dark recesses and fills a 10-foot radius area, climbing all over any creature in the area. The group of mice and rats remains until the end of the next round. Any creature in the 10-foot area that the group fills takes 7 (2d6) points of piercing damage and must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or be filled with revulsion; a creature filled with revulsion suffers disadvantage on its next attack roll or ability check that takes place within the next minute.

Saithith’s Lair

Saithith lair was the castle at the center of Elder Daven. His lair had all the effects of vampire lairs as described in the Monster Manual. Plus creatures within half a mile of the castle would often find themselves ravenously hungry for rare or raw meat. His lair was guarded by all manner of lesser undead.
